A super relaxing 2.5 hour flatware workshop in the Ikigai Home studio in Geelong.

You will be shown how to make flatware using traditional hand building techniques. Hand building is all about using your hands and other tools to create beautiful organic shapes, form and texture. The technique we will focus on in this workshop is slab.

As a group I will guide you through the techniques of rolling and throwing slabs, cutting clay, adding texture, using moulds and household objects to create shapes and finally how to refine your pieces. Once you have the basics down, you can let your creativity run wild.

This workshop is great for new potters and for those looking to create some unique plates, platters, trays, dishes etc. for their home. We have a lovely intimate space suitable for 4-6 makers per class.

During the class we will work with stoneware clay and you can choose up to 4 of your works to be glazed and fired and choose up to 2 glazes for your work.

Everything for the workshop is provided, including a glass of beautiful Baie wine and some yummy produce to graze on while you potter away.

Glazed and fired pieces can be collected from the studio, approximately 6-8 weeks after the workshop.
